The Journey to Greece
The first day here was crazy! Traveling for almost two days takes its toll on the body and all the students were definitely feeling the exhaustion. Flying from Hawaii to Canada was quite peaceful as the flight had many open seats and students could be found sprawled out and snoring across three chairs. Now the flight from Canada to Germany was a whole different story-screaming kids, a packed flight, and a long flight did not make for a good combination with a bunch of moody teenagers. The flight from Germany to Greece was just two hours, which was much easier than the 10 1/2 hour-flight.
Our first day in Greece with teachings in Thessaloniki was enjoyable. We met our guides, Dave and Kleanthis and went to our hotel in a stylish ride. We decided a small walk would be what was best for our tired souls and enjoyed stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea and beautiful architecture of the inner city. We met up with our counterpart school and immediately friendships started to form. We dined extravagantly on a 5-course meal. After dinner, the group made our way back to the hotel and said goodnight to new friends and guides and went upstairs to promptly fall asleep.
